Discover your Parenting Safety Style

Think back to when you first found out that you were going to be a parent.  For me I was so so excited – until I started getting all of the “Advice.”  Everything seemed to conflict, and to be honest, things started to become confusing.Years later I have finally realized why.  We all parent differently – and really there is no “right” way.  Some of us like to be right in the middle of everything with our child to ensure their safety and some of us like to let our kids explore while keeping a very careful eye on them.  I also know that my parenting style has significantly changed from my first child to my third child and that is ok too!  I’ve evolved as a mom and realized that some of the things I did as a first time mom weren’t really necessary and also that there are some things that I need to be more cognizant of that I just didn’t know about before.  The bottom line is – at the end of the day we just want our kids to be safe, happy, and healthy.  That said, have your ever wondered how your parenting safety style would be characterized?  Or how your style may be the same or different from your friends?  Take this Parenting Safety Style quiz from our friends at Tide to find out:

Interesting right? Any Cheetahs out there?  That’s what I am!

The results are actually spot on for me – I really do find myself parenting different ways in different situations!  I’m a little more relaxed at the playground these days and actually let my kids climb and run while watching from a bench.  However, some things are non-negotiables for me: like keeping cleaning supplies, including laundry detergent and laundry pacs up, closed, and out of reach. Even if the container has safety features (like the Tide PODS Child-Guard Tub), I am diligent about making sure there is no way for my kids to get into them.

June is National Safety Month, so what better time than right now to talk about our safety styles andencourage our friends to do the same. Share the quiz on social media to start a conversation about your safety style––and let me know what your results are!
